Viracocha Hill Project
Viracocha Hill is a wind and energy storage repowering project in the famed Altamont Pass, where the first utility-scale wind farms were built in the US. This is the second project in the Altamont Pass that Salka will be repowering.
Located 35 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area in Alameda County, the Project will provide renewable energy to major load centers
The Project is the conglomeration of two neighboring projects that were acquired between May of 2021 and May of 2022
During the peak of construction, the Project is expected to create up to 100 new jobs
Viracocha Hill is expected to provide clean renewable energy to approximately 25,000 homes while offsetting an estimated 6.48 million metric tons of CO2
The Project expects to generate millions of dollars over its operating life in tax revenue that will benefit Alameda County’s schools and local community initiatives
